Where's The Beef?
Anyone looking to have that question answered need look no further than Alabama coach Nick Saban. Saban has only point to the University of Alabama's list of 2009 verbal commitments to answer the question. Though it's a short list of commitments at this moment, it's packed with beef. All three of the Tide's current commitments are linemen.
Just today Alabama picked up another mammoth offensive tackle in Jonesboro, Georgia's Darius McKeller (6-6, 284). McKeller, a prep standout at Jonesboro High School excels at pass protection but, also posesses the strength to get a good push while run blocking. Darius chose to verbal to the Tide over Sly Croom's Mississippi State Bulldogs.
On a side note, you may recall former NFL tight end Keith McKeller of the Buffalo Bills. Keith is Darius's father.

BAMA Picks Up Second 2009 Verbal
Football games are won in the trenches. Atleast that's what they say. Alabama football coach Nick Saban appears to be adhering to that old philosophy as he's added the second verbal commitment of the 2009 recruiting class. Both linemen, one playing on each side of the ball.
Snellville, Georgia offensive lineman Kellen Williams (6-4, 298) will be joining defensive lineman D.J. Fluker on the Tide's list of 2009 verbals. Though Williams was sporting a fairly extensive list of offers from schools like Florida State, Boston College, Vandy, Central Florida, and Wake Forest, he wasn't going to pull the trigger until hearing from Alabama. Once Williams got the offer he wasted little time in making good on it, informing the Tide staff just today that he has verbally committed to play at Alabama.
With Georgia not being able to sign a full compliment of players this year the immense amount of talent in the Peach State is open for neighboring schools to come in and cherry pick high-quality recruits out from under the Bulldogs. Williams' verbal to Alabama is in fact a testament to the numbers crunch we see, considering he's regarded as one of the top offensive tackles in the entire Southeast. Any other year one would have to believe that UGA would have already attempted to offer and lock up the Brookwood High School star. Having said that, when it's all said and done it's unlikely that Mark Richt and company will just walk away without atleast trying to sway Williams. Stay tuned to this recruitment because things are bound to get interesting.
