Opening Day For The Tide

Try and keep your eyes focused on the future. The distant future. For Crimson Tide baseball fans this may be the only way to survive the 2008 season.

The Tide is off to a losing start and that may very well be a sign of things to come. Much of the opening weekend’s disappointment can be directly linked to the uncertainty at the conclusion of last season. With an opening weekend that produced a 1-2 start, the Tide looked like a team that was shaky, out of position and searching for itself.

Bama coach Jim Wells’ off again, on again struggle at season’s end hurt the program. Recruits wavered, a potential returning star in Cale Iorg headed west and the team was left to fill holes with the available cast. It showed against Cal Poly and it wasn’t pretty.
