that played in the early to mid 60s? I think he was lineman and he was an All American. But he got killed in a hunting accident a few years ago. He was one of Coach Bryant's best players.

He was a three year starter on teams that went 30-2-1. (Freshmen weren't eligible then.) Two of the teams won the NC, only the perfect 1966 team (the uncrowned champions) was denied this. Quite an honor roll of great players besides him: Dennis Homan, Ray Perkins, Steve Sloan, Kenny Stabler, Paul Crane, Jimmy Fuller, Bobby Johns.
