| Rico has been suspended indefinitely. There's quite a laundry list of violations. I don't know how many will make it to the public sector, but the problems range from the classroom to workouts and his biggest liabilities are his mouth and attitude.

That is a shame. He has a lot of athletic ability, but there are aspects of his game that definitely need work. I hope that he grows up some and gets himself squuared away.

If he does leave, I hope he figures out that most schools do expect him to go to class. He is also going to find out that regardless of his athletic skills a point guard who can't score from the perimeter and turns the ball over a lot is not in high demand.
Typically those who see playing time as a freshman struggle at first but adjust and get better as the season progresses. I'll be kind and say that Pickett did not improve anywhere near as much over the season as Hillman did.

It is no wonder that recruiting is such a crap shoot. You try to evaluate a 16-17 year old player regarding ability to play at your level, ability to do the academic work expected and ability to fit in with your team concept. I got the idea, right or wrong, that Rico came in with a "star" mentality. He is far from the first high school stand out to start out with this attitude, but most are humbled by competing against those who are as good and more experienced and learn to adapt and fit in. Apparently Rico is still insisting on "his way".

I had a friend in Decatur say that he thought signing Rico wasn't a good move and it wasn't due to his ability.
There are stories circulating about another school trying to recruit Rico when he was on the team and it lead to Rico asking to be released from his scholarship, which, the staff denied.
Bottom line, there is a lot of drama with this kid and I don't consider it a loss for him to not be wearing Crimson next season.

This explains a lot to me about why the chemistry on this team never clicked, and why when the game was on the line, Hollinger was on the court instead of Pickett.

| He was up here at Walmart signing autographs on alabama basketballs saturday from what my brother said. Even in HS here he seemd to have a "me" attitude. I was hoping Bama would help him with that because he does have potential.

Mark Gottfried needs to be openly and aggressively questioned regarding his carefully worded comment alleging academics either did or might have played a role in the decision to suspend Pickett. Gottfried did not openly assert such, but his statement clearly hints that academics was a determining factor.
Yet, some unnamed 'source' later clearly states that academics was not involved in this decision.
If the unnamed source is correct, then Gottfried's action and effort is just horrible. And someone in the press and our fan base needs to hold him accountable, for God knows our AD will not.

What I have been hearing is that Pickett originally got in trouble for not going to class. As remediation he was expected to go back to class, as well as some early morning running, which he never showed up for. If you parse this like Bill Clinton then technically he was suspended for failing to do the extra running, not for no class attendance.
