why all the questions about the deep passing game?why not question what happened to the running game? they had 239 yards on 50 carries against clemson and only 99 yards on 26 carriers against tulane, screw all of the talk of the deep passsing gmae they need to get back ot bascics and run the ball and control the clock

There was no running game because there were no holes. If by a hole, you mean an open space with Tulane players bullrushing through them, we had plenty of those.

John Parker Wilson didn't open up any holes for the running backs, he was too worried about his pretty hair. A good quarterback will bulldoze the defensive linemen out of the way and open up running lanes for his running backs, not our QB though.

In fact, Wilson did not even intitiate any contact with the linebackers. It was almost as if Wilson was scared of the Tulane linebackers. He failed to block them whatsoever.

Here you go CTR I found this for you. You should join up asap!! Laughing

JPW!

LOL. You got me on that one. I would never join a page like that though, or any MySpace page.

I like Wilson as a QB and think he does extremely well when he actually takes the field with a football team.

Other than that, he isn't really that important in my day to day life.

My only point that I am trying to make by making these absurd statements about him is that it is asinine for clueless posters to come in after a game, like this one against Tulane, and start bashing the QB.

Direct the rants and the bashes at the correct target. The offensive line blew big chunks of crap all over BDS last night, yet hardly a single poster even seems to realize this.

To me, it displays an amazing lack of knowledge. It indicates how far the football IQ of 'Bama fans has dropped over the years.

NOTE: I'm not posting much on this issue b/c you are covering it pretty well for me, NOT b/c JPW needs to be replaced... Laughing

who was getting on jpw?i wasnt at all, i was actually defending him if you read what i wrote correctly; the running game, if you attempt to stick w/ it, which they didnt and you can look at the number of carries to see that, will open up the deep passing game, everypne was bashing jpw that he didnt complete throws and i was saying that it maybe it would have been a little different

Is it really that hard to see how much pressure he was under all night? Yes he made bad passes without much pressure, but when you've been on your a** or running for your life half the game...that tends to mess up your psyche. It's not that hard to understand, fans that don't see whats right in front of their faces are the worse.

Plain and simple JPW didn't have time to make the best passes. A few sailed a little, but a couple were dropped as well. The other times he was flushed out of the pocket and mostly made some great decisions with the ball.

How many int's did he throw?

John Parker Wilson for Heisman!!

Hey, he IS at ALABAMA, after all.

Are you literally out of your mind? I really don't understand people like you. JPW is not the best QB to ever throw a ball, nor is he the worst.

You don't understand people like me, who occasionally use sarcasm to make a point? Being immediately pointed at with a finger and hearing someone scream, "meltdown" is reminiscent of the Invasion of the Body Snatchers. What did I say? That on long passes JP has a tendency to overthrow. Notice that none of you have addressed that observation directly, instead you are immediately ready to point out that I'm an idiot. Have none of you noticed this tendency? Seriously? If the problem is not that I am wrong, but it is that you all don't want me to point it out, then say so, don't pretend I'm saying JP is the worst QB ever or whatever it is you're implying.

How many times was Wilson drove into the sod at BDS last night? How many times was he flushed? How many times was he rushed?

How many times did the offensive line fail to perform their duties properly? How many of them should be replaced?

Ok, so you're in love with John Parker Wilson, you think I'm an idiot and don't understand football as well as you do, and you think that there is better personnel on the team than what we had on the field last night. Is that everything?

You just said "how many times was Wilson drove into the sod last night/flushed/rushed" Referring to the post-game press conference, and what this one guy Nick Saban had to say, it went something like this:

Nick Saban wrote:
"There were 3 sacks out there that weren’t the offensive line: The tailback didn’t pick up the corner blitz once, the quarterback didn’t throw hot once, and the tailback didn’t pick up the blitz again. Everybody thinks that every time there is a sack it’s the offensive line--it isn’t always the offensive line... so... especially when there is an extra person coming."

Aight?

How many times has the offensive line cost 'Bama football games in the last 10 years? You are silly and by blaming the dismal performance of this team on JPW, you clearly and undeniably illustrate that you know as much about football as you do about common sense.

Assuming that I do know nothing about football, how would I have clearly and undeniably illustrated that I have little common sense? Didn't get that one.

My bottom line point is this: I never said anything about who cost us the game (QB or OLINE), how awful JPW is, or anything else you've blindly grasped onto as part of your incoherent argument against nothing. I merely pointed out two observations about the game, was stigmatized as "meltdown", and responded to prove that JPW is not untouchable. You all are so pumped up and ready to jump on anyone who makes observations that don't jive perfectly with what you think. Do not say that I shouldn't speak negatively about a player, because you do the same whenever you say anything negative about a specific unit (the oline) or the entire team, which many of you do consistently. Making non-personal criticisms of a player's performance is not doing the player any harm.

Thanks and have a great night. Control, Alt, Delete.

I'd say about as many as he's overthrown the player, or as many times as hes been picked off.

About as many times as piss poor coaching and terrbile player adjustments.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

All, Bs aside,

I do agree some what let's get the ball in the play makers hands. With all the blitzing Tu was doing we should ran at least one Jail break screen. I truley believe we just had a really bad week. Hopeful we can make some adjustment and get ready for the next game.

How many of those throws were a direct result of pressure? Tulane had the heat on JPW Saturday. He was getting hit on every play. JPW got touched about twice the whole Clemson game and look how he performed.

does anyone remember the 20yd sideline routes that tennessee used to kill us with back in the 90s with manning and then with Clausen. it was a quick 3 step drop i think and then they just threw it up high and let the tall guy go up and get it. if he didn't get it, it would usually go out of bounds. they threw this route when they had single coverage and a mismatch.

that might be a good play to work in or something like it to neutralize the blitzing being done by teams like Tulane that are blitz happy. we didn't seem to have a quick pass or other play that was suited to go against the blitzing that was occurring on just about every down.
